This issue of the IEEE TCDL Bulletin focuses on the posters and demonstrations presented at the Sixth ACM/IEEE Joint Conference on Digital Libraries. This is the second issue of the Bulletin in which JCDL posters and demos have been featured. (The first issue featuring JCDL posters and demos is at https://www.ieee-tcdl.org/Bulletin/v2n1/.)

The IEEE Technical Committee on Digital Libraries (TCDL) has been a sponsor of the ACM/IEEE JCDL Conferences for several years. The Committee has provided support for doctoral consortiums held at this and other major digital library conferences, and has funded best paper and best student paper awards at such conferences as well. The IEEE TCDL does this because of the importance of these events to the wider digital library research and development community. Membership in the IEEE TCDL is free of charge, and you should consider joining in order to support such efforts.

There are many excellent broad-topic digital library conferences held throughout the year worldwide. Several of these are listed in the Bulletin's Calendar of Events, and there you will find links to other event calendars where even more digital-library-related conferences are listed. Two upcoming digital library conferences that you may wish to consider attending are the European Conference on Research and Advanced Technology for Digital Libraries (ECDL 2007) to be held September 16-21, 2007, in Budapest, Hungary; and the 10th International Conference on Asian Digital Libraries (ICADL 2007), which will be held December 10-13, 2007, in Hanoi, Vietnam.

I'm sure you will enjoy this issue of the IEEE TCDL Bulletin. I thank Unmil P. Karadkar and Marlo Nordt from the Center for the Study of Digital Libraries at Texas A&M University who have served as the guest editors for this issue.

Production of the next issue of the Bulletin – the last for which I will serve as editor – has already begun. It will feature papers from the Doctoral Consortium held at the 10th European Conference on Research and Advanced Technology for Digital Libraries. If you would like to suggest a topic for a future special issue of the IEEE TCDL Bulletin, please send your suggestion to me (bwilson@cnri.reston.va.us), and I will make sure the new Bulletin editor receives it.
