Welcome to the spring 2008 issue of TCDL Bulletin, which focuses on posters and demonstrations from JCDL 2007.  I’ve often found that some of the most innovative work in digital libraries is described in posters and demos, and this issue bears out that observation.  TCDL Bulletin features short articles on topics such as curatorial tools, automated metadata generation, digital library education, evaluation, document management, and more.

With this issue of TCDL Bulletin, we are rolling out a new design that is, we hope, fresher and easier to navigate.   Many thanks to my colleague Nadalia Liu, who created and implemented the new design.  Nadalia took my vague comments about how to re-design the journal and came up with some great solutions, always working productively and cheerfully.  Thanks also to Michael Christel of Carnegie Mellon University, the guest editor of this issue.  Mike amazed me with the speed, grace, and precision with which he performed his editorial duties.  Without his willingness to recruit authors and review articles, this issue of TCDL Bulletin would not have come into being.  Finally, I would like to thank Bonnie Wilson, former editor of TCDL Bulletin, for all of her work developing the journal and helping me get started as its new editor.

I welcome your comments on this issue, or on TCDL Bulletin in general. Upcoming issues will focus on the papers from the 2008 JCDL Doctoral Consortium and the posters and demos from JCDL 2008.
